As you know, Elring is one of the best known brands worldwide for its high quality engine spare parts for passenger cars and other brands such as Deutz.
In this post, we are going to give you some Elring tips for the assembly of PTFE seals and the assembly of a Teflon sealing flange module with integrated transmission wheel.
INSTALLATION OF PTFE OIL SEALS
Modern engines, whether diesel or petrol, place increased demands on oil seals due to higher engine speeds and higher oil temperatures.
As fluor-rubber (FKM) seals cannot cope with these new demands, the seals are now made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE).
Proper assembly is crucial to ensure the correct use of PTFE seals. Some important indications must be taken into account, such as removing the plastic sleeve only at the time of assembly in order to preserve the geometrical shape of the sealing lip.
It is also essential to carefully examine the shaft surface before assembly and to treat any damage.
It is important to note that the assembly of the PTFE seal is carried out dry, without the need for oils and greases.
During assembly, the plastic sleeve must be positioned in such a way as to allow a seamless transition between the seal and the shaft. The insertion or pressing of the seal onto the shaft must be carried out with the appropriate tool, ensuring even pressure and without shocks to avoid damaging the sealing lip.
To ensure a perfect seal, it is recommended to wait up to 4 hours after assembly before the high-performance PTFE shaft seal performs its function optimally.
ASSEMBLY OF TEFLON SEALING FLANGE MODULE WITH INTEGRATED TRANSMISSION WHEEL
First of all, this spare part has a number of functions, such as ensuring tightness, recording the engine speed, accurately calculating the crankshaft position and determining the exact injection and ignition timing of the engine control.
Incorrect disassembly or installation of this spare part may result in damage to the camshaft, oil leakage or difficulties when starting the engine.
Precautions for handling the sealing flange module:
– Do not remove the transport protection device or the mounting sleeve before assembly.
– After removal from the packaging, avoid disassembling or disassembling the drive wheel.
– Avoid damaging the crankshaft or the sealing flange.
– Assembly of the sealing flange module must be carried out dry, without the use of grease or oil.
It is very important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions, use the proper tools and check the crankshaft for damage.
